Tucked away through a labyrinth of alleyways lies a felt hat studio in the art district of Istanbul, Turkey. After studying woodworking in university, Sabri Tunca, the studio’s owner, took up his true passion: working with felt. Ever since, he’s made a living by creating elaborate, vibrant, and wacky felt hats which he sells online and ships around the world.

I apprenticed Sabri for one month to learn about his felting process and make my own hats. Below are a sample of some of the more than 50 tailor-made hats that I helped create.
